Email stuck on verifying

Hello. I woke up one day and realized that my mail app was deleted off my phone for some reason and I know for a fact that I did not delete it myself as it is very important to my day to day life. I reinstalled the mail app and have tried logging in, but it keeps saying verifying. The loading icon will spin and then it stops and nothing happens. I have tried restarting my phone and it does not work. I can access my email through my desktop but it will not work on my phone. Yes my internet works and is secure. I have tried everything and can not find any help on this issue. And yes i have updated my phone to its latest update. I have tried adding it as a “new account” and it says the IMAP server is not responding.

Hi yellowgiraffe2,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We'd like to get a bit more information to isolate the issue. Do you have multiple email accounts on your iPhone? If so, does this happen with a certain account? Is this a work or school email? Since those accounts may require further setup from IT or admins that information can be important.

If you tried setting up your email automatically, try the manual steps from Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support next. For your convenience, those steps are as follows.

"How to set up your email account manually

If you need to set up your email account manually, make sure that you know the email settings for your account. If you don’t know them, you can look them up or contact your email provider. Then follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account, tap Other, then tap Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description for your account.
  4. Tap Next. Mail will try to find the email settings and finish your account setup. If Mail finds your email settings, tap Done to complete your account setup."

During that process, you may need to locate your mail settings which you can do by entering your email address at Mail - Official Apple Support.

If the same continues, test Safari and other Internet-based apps to make sure there isn't an issue with the network connection.

Take care.

Hi, thank you for your response. I only have one email on my iPhone and that is the iCloud account I am referring to in the post. I have tried setting up my email manually but I get an error message that reads "The IMAP server automatically added for ios and OS x mail is not responding" . My internet is working as well.
