i am unable to access my mail on my macbook and it keeps telling me to "quit" mail

how do i access my mail on my mac without it forcing me to quit mail?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

In a pinch use a brwser to log into your WebMail, like...


gmail.co,

icloud.com

aol.com

etc.


Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?


Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.


If still no good Disconnect from the Internet, then start Mail, look for the last rec'd eMail.


Does Mail crash if no internet?


Quit Mail & login to your WebMail in a Browser, if possible delete any later eMails there after the last rec'd one on the Mac.


If you have no POP accounts & they’re all IMAP accounts then in Mail’s Mailbox menu choose Rebuild.

Rid of Running Items:

Boot into Safe Mode, and add this as a login item...

A. First check. the list of Login Items:

  1. Go To: System Preferences
  2. Select: Users & Groups
  3. Click: This user name
  4. Click: Login Items
  5. Click: “+“ button
  6. Select: [the app]
  7. Click: Cancel button


B. Then, Check Force Quit:

See if an application is not responding. If that is the case, Force Quit it.

  1. Go To: Apple Menu
  2. Select: Force Quit...
  3. Select: An Item Ending in: “Not Responding
  4. Click: Force Quit button
