Issues with L2TP

Hello,

I've been trying to get plain L2TP to connect using the VPN settings in iOS16 but this fails to connect each time claiming the L2TP-VPN server did not respond. This works perfectly fine on a non-iOS device so seems to point towards something in iOS refusing to allow this connection, has anyone been able to get L2TP to work?
