My MacBook Pro is requiring me to manually type in my password every time the computer wakes up from sleep instead of using Touch ID as I used to be able to do.

There was a thread started in 2020 on this but had little activity and no resolution: My MacBook Pro is requiring me to manually type in my password every time the computer wakes up from sleep instead of my using Touch ID as I used to be able to do. How can I have Touch ID restored to log me in from sleep mode within a pre-set time period or better still, when waking from sleep all of the time.
