This was a question originally posted in 2020 where someone asked a question and never received a solution. I’m reposting because I just saw this behaviour on someone else’s phone and I managed to find the reason.

———-

Original Q:

battery icon

My wife and i both have the iPhone xr bought at the same time. On her phone you can touch battery icon in top right corner and a larger “state of charge” will pop on the screen. Mine will not do it. How come?

———-

My friends phone has the same behaviour…a simple touch on the battery indicator pops up a large battery charge indicator in the centre of the screen. In fact, a touch on the wifi strength, signal strength, and the time display will pop up a large graphic in the centre of the screen.

Took me awhile to figure out why I didn’t have this behaviour on my phone but I eventfully determined it’s related to Accessibility/Text Size.

Settings/Accessibility/Display & Text Size/Larger Text

Set Larger Text to ON and move the text size slider at least one notch to the right of the default setting. VOILA…you’ve now got a simple way to show a bigger display of the battery charge, wifi strength, signal strength, or time.

Just thought this might be of interest.
