I’m a bit challenged when it comes to IT. Just bought an Apple Watch SE and although I have the charging station/cord…. I’m lacking a place to plug it in to. Was there supposed to be a charger in the box or did I have to buy it?

No. Apple hasn't included a charging plug in Apple Watch or iPhone the last few generations. You need a USB C charging plug. If you don't own one, you can pick one up at an Apple Store, BestBuy Store, Staples Store, Amazon or if your computer has a USB C port, plug it in there.

Apple hasn't included adapters in Watches and iPhones for several years.
You can plug the cable into a computer if you have one with a compatible port. Or, you buy an adapter. If you have an adapter with a compatible port from some other device, you can use that.
