iPad sound not working after water damage

Why is my sound only coming out of my airports? I accidentally spilt water on the case when washing the dishes and now my sound on the iPad itself isn't working. And the volume is showing that it is connected to my airpods and could only hear any sound on there. How should I fix it? What should I do?
