Maine Public Radio Classical and some other stations come in with a lot of static on the audio.
Tried restarting the AppleTV, and it cures it sometimes, but then the problem returns. The California Cliassical App does not appear to be affected. Signal strength is 100% on my wife in a 250 Mbps/7 Mbps Cable TV service with Spectrum. HDMI connected to a Sony XBR9 52" TV, and swapped HDMI cable to no avail.
On my Apple TV A1842 with the MTRP app, my cross-ocean access to Maine Public Classical seems to use 8–9 MB in 10 minutes, or ~113 kbps, according to my router’s usage monitor, without distortions that could be described as “static”, apart from record playing ticks and pops on some tracks. So that seems alright for internet radio.
I can’t seem to replicate your issue.
If an issue happens with some stations but not others, then I would assume an issue at the station source. Not the app, nor your equipment.
So what you’re saying is, that it does carry over to other streams within the app, but not carry over to other apps on the same device? That is puzzling! And if it stops (temporarily) after a reboot, then I think that would indicate something in memory or processing, i.e. the device. Not sure how that can be app-specific. 🤔
Except it later spread to the Classical California Classical. A reboot fixed the problem. The static was like a layer on top of the regular station audio. It didn't matter of the station had a newscaster or an album, the static overlaid the audio.
No it is multiple apps have the problem eventually.
So the audio on the AppleTV first fails on one app then not another, but later the other app. I wonder if I just have too many apps open. I'll have to explore when this happens again and see if it clears closing all apps, opening the MyTuner and connecting
