secure code autofill

My MacBook Air 2022 is receiving 2 factor authentication codes from my iPhone, but not automatically filling it in. Have unchecked "use contact Info”and "credit cards” in Safari settings on iPhone, restarted iPhone and re-checked both boxes, and made sure Two Factor Authentication is on on the MacBook. Now have to switch out of Safari to see the code in messages, as it disappears quickly from the MacBook screen.

elk,

Thanks for clarifying. So it seems the popup box to click to fill it the code is not staying long enough.

If you haven't already, restart your MacBook Air and see if stays a little longer. Also, if you haven't already, try hitting the down arrow or another key on the keyboard when it pops up to see if it stays.

If you've done all that and it's still not staying as it should, reach out to Apple directly here: Get Support

Take care.

Hi elk,

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that you receive your verification code on your iPhone and you are looking to automatically enter it on your MacBook Air.

How do you receive your verification code?

If you are receiving your verification code through a notification alert, you have to manually enter the code to your MacBook Air manually.

If you are receiving your verification code through a text message, you may be able to use some Continuity features to help you with the process.

Take care!

I receive verification codes via text, which shows up on the MacBook Air 2022, but the code isn’t filled in. Text message forwarding is set up, and my iPad automatically fills in verification codes, as did the MacBook Pro I used prior to purchasing the MacBook Air. The MacBook Air receives texts messages via iPhone, but the codes are no longer automatically filled in.

No, I do not need help accessing and signing in using a verification code.

"Secure code autofill” is not working on the MacBook Air. I’ve reviewed instructions for setting this up: my phone is set up to forward texts to the Mac, which it does; however the code isn’t filled in, and the text disappears quickly, so I have to open messages to see the code, then type it in on the website I’m signing in to.

Thank you! Nicholas_2’s answer worked. It’s a little more cumbersome than it used to be - on MacBook Pro is just filled in automatically: didn’t have to hold an arrow key and click in the box for the code to be entered; hopefully there’ll be a fix for that, eventually. Thanks again for following up.
