You need a FireWire 800 cabe:
A Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter:
Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple.
And a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter:
Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple

Yes, the usb is damaged. My IMac is 2017.
I had a wire that came with it that worked a few years back. It fit into the rectangular port(second one down in the photo above) but I can’t find it anywhere. I have no idea what kind it is and where to find one. There are so many options. Here is the back of my iMac
Hello!

Jack
Thanks. Is there any data you need from this drive, or can it be replaced, such as it being a backup disk?
Jack
