Unable to activate my ESPN+ account on Apple TV.

I am unable to activate my ESPN+ account on Apple TV.

I am able to visit espn.com/activate, and enter the 6-character activation code. After entering the code on the web site, I see a confirmation message saying Success (screenshot attached).

However, the Apple TV app does not refresh after entering the code.

Unable to sign up for apple tv again. Have account, payment details are fine. Button on website to put apple tv on again not working. Is website down. Tried through QR code on tv. Same won't let me access. Tried from partners phone. Same.
