A few points while you follow the steps mentioned in the link above:

  1. First thing is that iOS 16.0 that comes straight outta the box, has a bunch of bugs and won’t easily let you get through. Manually set up your iPhone without transfer, do an update to the latest iOS version you see and then reset the iPhone. Then start the process mentioned in the link.
  2. Forget all Wi-Fi networks on your Android. Only retain the Wi-Fi network you would connect your iPhone to and also disable auto-connect feature for that network by going into the Wi-Fi settings of that network.
  3. Text message formats are different between Android and iOS and hence can’t be transferred. I tried umpteen times from my OnePlus to iPhone 14 Pro, till an Apple Care executive pointed out to the reason for the failure to transfer. Apart from text messages, all other data went through, including whatsapp.
  4. For whatsapp, just make sure you clear up some storage and reduce the size of whatsapp content to be below 50GB. Else, there’s a good chance that move to iOS transfer might fail.
  5. After selecting all content you wish to transfer, disconnect from the Wi-Fi network you were on, enter the pin and wait for the option to connect to a temporary Wi-Fi network IOS …xyz… and connect to it.
  6. Try to keep screens alive on both phones till all these steps and till you see the transfer start and show an estimated time. Then you can let go and the transfer will still continue to happen.

It takes roughly double the estimated time that move to iOS tells you, to actually finish the transfer.

Good luck!
