iBoysoft NTFS for Mac and security

I found out that installing Paragon NTFS will stop Apple Pay from working which I think is probably due to security issues. Further the Paragon NTFS installation on a MacBook Pro Apple Silicon was poorly documented.

Therefore I'd like to know if anyone has experience with iBoysoft NTFS for Mac.

  1. How about its infringement on security on a MacBook Pro 2021?
  2. Will Apple Pay still work when iBoysoft NTFS is installed?
  3. Is the installation on a MacBook Pro with Monterey 12.6 easy and well documented?

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks for your reply etresoft. Yes I did, or rather: I only could find two ratings, so not much information there.

Found this on the internet:

Q: Is it safe to play around with Mac's default security settings and enable system extensions?

A: If the software you are installing requires reduced security for installing kernel extensions, it is safe. That's because only Apple identified and trusted developers can ask you to allow system extensions. Their software will never compromise the overall security.

Do you think the answer makes sense considering the fact that Apple Pay might stop functioning?

You can only see information for your country. If you go to this link, you can see US reviews. Change the "/us/" to some other 2-letter country code to see reviews from other countries.

It does make sense, more or less. Paragon NTFS is a well-known and safe app. Kernel extensions do have to be signed so one usually doesn't have worry about them as far as security goes. However, processing credit cards via Apple Pay requires Apple to comply with security standards set by banks and credit card companies.

It's not really fair. Your credit card is not going to be stolen by a rogue 3rd party kernel extension. It's simply not going to happen. But your credit card most definitely will be stolen by some other company that complies with credit card PCI guidelines. It's only a matter of time. But this is not something that Apple can change. It's just the way it is. You can't use Apple Pay unless you reduce your security level. But there are so many easier ways to steal your credit card.
