I'm unable to open older FCPX projects into the updated 10.4.8 version. I get the error message: The document “CurrentVersion.fcpproject” could not be opened. Final Cut Pro cannot open files in the “Final Cut Pro Project” format.
What am I doing wrong?
The Final Cut Pro Project format was replaced by libraries beginning in version 10.1. After about vision 10.2.4 I think, the application would no longer convert projects from the old format into libraries. To use this file you will have to find access to a version of FCP10.1 or 10.2 and a computer that can use it, running OS X Yosemite I think.

These look like stuff from at least nine years ago.
Final Cut has used libraries since version 10.1 in late 2013.
What version were you using before?
ugh.... well that's a real killer.
