Pros & Cons on new iPhone with Satellite GPS

I do a lot of back off road driving and I am wondering if it'll be a benefit to me to jump from iPhone 7 to new with the GPS emergency satellite capabilities? What do you think?

Handheld GPS uses the network of satellites to get your location, while A-GPS (Assisted GPS); which is what our iPhones use, uses the network of satellites along WITH information from the cell towers of your mobile operator to pinpoint your location. This added dimension makes A-GPS faster and more accurate - only if you are near a cell tower. Also, the A-GPS only works if there is a cell tower, and you do not have to be on a purchased cell service for this to work. But, if you are in the middle of ocean, or putting around flying VFR, it doesn’t work the same as a hand held GPS that actually acquires Satellite Signals, and doesn’t use a hybrid A-GPS system.

iPhone GPS or Location Update Rate? Hi, I am trying to find out the GPS/Location update rate that the iPhone14 can accomplish. Most GPS update rates are 1hz (1 location update per second). I am hoping that the newest iPhones can provide a faster update rate. Also I would like to know the accuracy of the GPS. It is 100meter, 50meter, 10meter, 3meter? Where could I find this information? Hello Mtfotonut, Knowing how spotty or nonexistent cellular can be in remote locations it wouldn't be a bad idea. I think Apple offers one year of satellite service with purchase so you can test it out to see if it helpful for you.
