Apple Pages – Page Numbers in Heading Indented

The left page number in the header is indented, how do I move it to the farthest edge of the header to match the right facing page (the decrease indent button is grayed out, and there does not appear to be any margin settings affecting the header)?

Try this:

Open the document. Click on the left header on the page shown in your post above.

Then click the Format brush to open the Format Inspector in the right sidebar.

In the Inspector, click the Style box in the row at the top, then check for the controls shown at the bottom of the Inspector panel here:

The one labeled Bullet also affects the posinion of the text (page number here) wrt the left margin. Set it to zero, and your page number should move to the left.

If your version is newer, the display may differ.

Consistency across devices would indicate the issue lies within the document, rather than the varied versions of the application.

I'd say picas's diagnosis is likely correct. Try selecting the text, then clicking the '<' button in the Text section of the Format Inspector window shown in picas's post above.

Not a behaviour I've seen in Pages 11.2, nor one that I recall from earlier versions.

Does it happen in a specific document, a few documents, all documents created in this copy of Pages, or documents created in this version and documents created in earlier versions of Pages and opened in this version.

Answers to those questions may provide hints to solving the issue.

Barry
