iMac shuts down when starting
Any ideas on how to get it to not shutoff?

Try resetting the SMC.
Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
If that doesn’t help, make a service appointment.

What year is your Mac? Depending on its age, it may not be eligible for service.
