Mac loosing internet connection daily

For the last few months, my MacBook Pro (2021) with M-1looses connectivity to internet, every day, for 4-5 minutes, few times a day. Nothing including Zoom, Mail, Safari, Chrome works during this time. Chrome does give a prompt to check proxy setting by going to Applications>System Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies and deselect any proxies that have been selected but it is not helpful as all proxies are already deselected.

This happens no matter if I am using a wifi or a wired connect. Happens both at home or at work. Have restarted and reset the router but that did not help either.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what maybe going on here. The time zone and the time/date is correct so that is not an issue.

Try logging into the router using the ip address of router. The password for the router is typically listed on a sticker on the router.

typically the router address is something like

192.168.1.1 or

192.168.1.254

So bring up safari and type in the router address in safari from above.

when you are successful in logging in, you want to look for status or logs.

In the logs or status of router is the connection to your ISP.

The error message you should look for is;

  • loss of sync
  • loss of frame

If either of these show up, it’s most likely an issue with your ISP.

Call them and report these errors and ask them to a loop back test or Random Bert bit error test on the link to your house. This will help identify if the issue is from the ISP to you or the other direction from you to the ISP.

If your not able to log in to the router, just call the ISP and ask them to look at the router for the sync or frame errors.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I have an update. It went down just now for 2 minutes and during this time I was able to access the local area network. It is just the internet, email, etc. that I loose. Please note, I am connected both via wifi and ethernet so it is not just wifi issue, it seems. Also this only effect me in the office. Other individual in the office who are on a windows do not face this issue. Additionally, I am running wifi diagnostics for 24 plus hours and it did not report any issue when the outage effected me. Finally, my desk phone as well as my iPhone are not effected by this outage.

Thank you for such a detailed response. I just posted an updated to Tesserax's original message. I don't think it is ISP issue since my desk phone does not loose connection when my Mac does. Same with my iPhone or all the other 4 desk phones or 4 windows machines in the office. No one looses connection. It is just my MacBook Pro. FWIW, I did update it yesterday to Ventura but the issue is still there.
