Problem with iPhone Voicemail Transcript (voice to text)

My iPhone 8 Plus on T-Mobile and my girlfriend's iPhone X on AT&T are both having problems with Voicemail Transcription (voicemail to text) starting in late September.

We are on two different phones and two different carriers.


I have tried the following below on both iPhones

1) Restarting and forced resets of the iPhones

2) Upgraded the iPhones to IOS 16.1

3) Checked for carrier updates.

4) Turned on/off airplane mode.

5) Checked that voicemail forwarding is correct.

5) Reset Siri. Change language then set the language back to English US.

6) Changed the voicemail greeting and password.

7) Reset the network setting


Still, we are both not getting voicemail transcription (voicemail to text)


Is this a known issue?

Is there a fix?

Voice Mail is carrier specific however, per Apple, VM transcription is a basic iPhone function that has worked for me for over 5 years until upgrading to ios 16. I also have an 8+ and the transcription is no longer working. It stopped the moment I upgraded to ios 16. T-Mobile has visual VM turned on and the only thing that changed was me upgradng to ios 16. There are several other posts on various sites saying they have the exact issue with an 8+.
