Can I transfer a physical sim number to another phone to make it an eSIM number

If I’m using a number on my iPhone 12 Pro max with physical sim and want to transfer that number to my iPhone 14 pro max eSIM can I do it without converting to eSIM

Yes, you can do that but will depend on the country and the service provider.


There are four options --> Find wireless carriers and worldwide service providers that offer eSIM service - Apple Support

  1. Wireless carriers that support eSIM Carrier Activation
  2. Wireless carriers that support eSIM Quick Transfer
  3. Wireless carriers that support other eSIM activation methods
  4. Wireless carriers that support eSIM activation on prepaid plans for international travelers

If you purchased the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the US, then all it can use is an eSIM. The US iPhone 14 models have no physical SIM capability. If this is the case then you will have to transfer your phone number to the iPhone 14 Pro Max by converting to eSIM with the help of your carrier.

If you purchased the iPhone 14 Pro Max outside of the US, then it has a SIM card tray for a Physical SIM card. In this case, you would just move your SIM card from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to your iPhone 14 Pro Max (Or you can convert it to an eSIM).
