Series 3 Apple Watch not working after update to iOS 16 and Watch OS 8.7
I have a Series 3 Apple Watch that I tried to update. I factory reset the watch, paired it with my phone, and ran the installation as if it was a new watch. After a few minutes, the watch froze and eventually restarted itself. All troubleshooting failed and now the watch turns on and asks to be synced, but once the process starts it fails and reboots. The technicians at the Genius Bar had it for three days and eventually told me it was unrecoverable and that I should buy a new watch.
Is there any way to roll the Watch OS back to a version that works with the Series 3 Apple Watch or am I stuck with a bricked watch? If Apple is unwilling to replace the dead watches (due to their software update), they should at least offer a limited-time upgrade credit of $150 toward a new Apple Watch.
