Purchase MacBook with different keyboard than the country you are in

Hi,

I currently live in Australia but am looking to purchase a new MacBook with a Swedish keyboard. According to Apple Support I can only get a Mac with US English, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and British keyboards. Their solution was that a friend would buy a mac in Sweden and send it by mail haha.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I don’t mind a longer delivery time, I just need the Swedish keys to be able to work properly, and not looking to have anyone in sweden send it over. Surely Apple can organize this somehow?

This question comes up here all the time. The only way to get a keyboard not available in your own country is to travel to one where it is available, have it sent to you by a friend, or buy from a non-apple source. Apple stores do not ship outside their own country. Swedish keyboard machines are not even available in the US (only Danish for some odd reason).

You can ask Apple to make this easier via

Swedish characters are easily made on many other keyboards, if that is any help. See

The main difference happens when you load the Swedish keyboard translation, which can not see what glyphs are on the physical keys.

The fundamental difference between an International English and a Swedish PHYSICAL keyboard is that the Swedish keyboard has a few extra Glyphs on certain keys, and maybe a few keys swap around.

So in a pinch, buy the English keyboard, load the Swedish translation, and use a sharpie marker to add a few glyphs to important keys.
