Sleep Mode does't Lock watch Screen

Same problem here. Started after the WatchOS 9.0 to 9.1 update. Watch screen doesn’t dim or simplify and no sleep tracking, yet the Sleep icon appears and notifications are silenced.

For me the workaround is to directly select the Sleep focus on either the phone or watch. The problem only occurs when I turn on Sleep focus via a Shortcut, which is my normal method.

To confirm, you're taking these steps to track your sleep: Track your sleep on Apple Watch and use Sleep on iPhone - Apple Support If so, then we'll need to ask some questions to better understand what's going on.

Does this occur when you try enabling Sleep on the Apple Watch or on the paired iPhone? Does it matter which device starts Sleep? That'll isolate this further for us.

Have you tried to restart the Apple Watch and paired iPhone yet? If not, we'd try that out first:

Restarting often resolves simple issues.

Are you using a case or screen protector on the Apple Watch? If so, try removing them to test it out.
