Lost content when emails with attachments moved to local mailbox.

When I move email with attachments from my Exchange inbox to a local mailbox that I created, all the content disappears. I called Apple support in August, 2022, and again in September. My issue was promoted both times to a supervisor. The first had me send screen shots which he forwarded to engineering. They both said engineering was working on the problem and that it would be fixed soon. It is almost November and still no fix. I am running Monterey 12.6 on a 2021 16 inch MacBook Pro M1 Max. On this website I see that the problem dates back several years. What should I do?

Well, I found a suggestion elsewhere on this website and apparently it works. I used Go to open the folder /Library/Mail/V9, then made protection copies of all files containing the name "Envelope Index", then put those on the desktop as a temporary back up, then trashed all the files named Envelope Index. When I closed and reopened Mail it reindexed all my files and this has apparently solved the problem. I can now move email messages to my mailboxes without the content I wish the nice people at Apple Help had known this so I could have solved this a couple of months ago.

After waiting a quite a while, 5 to15 minutes in some cases, the contents that have disappeared reappear. The reindexing looks like it is working. Thank you for your suggestion KiltedTim. Exchange came from GoDaddy when they dropped POP email. I did talk with them but they had no ideas. It looks like the deletion of the Envelope Indexes is a real fix!

Last week I called Apple Support and the advisor looked up my August case number and said there apparently hasn't been a fix for lost email content when the email with an attachment is moved from Exchange inbox to a self-created mailbox.

We agreed that I should try upgrading to Ventura. The fix might be in the new OS version. This morning I upgraded and, sadly, all content still disappears when I move an email that has an attachment from my Exchange inbox to a self-created mailbox. HELP!! PLEASE!!
