Message history for iCloud

My Mac was shut down for 5 weeks. Only the first three weeks of message history have loaded in on my Mac. How can I get the last two weeks of message history to load from iCloud to my Mac?

Hello SeaSusan,

Thanks for asking about some messages not syncing.

Since it's all from the last 10 days, check if you ran out of iCloud storage: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

"If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up to iCloud, new photos and videos won't upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and messages won't stay up to date across your devices. And you also won't be able to send or receive emails with your iCloud email address."

If you have plenty of storage, you might want to backup before the nest steps: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Once backed up, turn the iCloud slider off for Messages, then turn it back on: Use Messages in iCloud - Apple Support

See if it removes, then forces everything to sync again. If you have an option to keep them on the device, go ahead and keep them, then push them again when you turn it back on.

Thanks.

Hello SeaSusan,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. If you use Messages in iCloud, we recommend to verify that this feature is turned on. This will ensure that your messages are updated accurately across your devices that use iCloud and it may help you to access your missing messages on the Mac. Here's how:

1. In the Messages app on your Mac, do one of the following:

- macOS Ventura: Choose Messages > Settings, click iMessage, then select Enable Messages in
iCloud.

- macOS 12 or earlier: Choose Messages > Preferences, click iMessage, then select Enable Messages in iCloud.

2. Select which email addresses and phone numbers you want to send and receive messages from on your Mac.

Any messages currently stored in iCloud are now accessible on your Mac, and any new messages you receive on your Mac will be stored in iCloud.

Note: If you want to see SMS and MMS messages on your Mac, see the Apple Support article How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

3. To see Messages stored in iCloud, open the Messages app.

That information is outlined here: Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support

Please let us know if that helps.

Kind regards.
