why was my text sent green

I was texting another iphone user and our texts were blue but then, all of a sudden, my last text turned green. what are all the reasons that would be?

The other person’s phone was OFF

The other person did not have a direct connection to the internet via Wi-Fi or Cellular

The other person signed out of iCloud (Apple ID)

The iMessage server had an error

There are several other reasons however those are most common.
