New sim now can’t get or send i messages

hi there

I just finished a pay monthly contract and went to sim only. I am in UK.

The new sim has came and I have did sim swap.

I was with Vodafone and wanted to stay with Vodafone.  My mobile number has stayed the same.

I installed and did sim swap yesterday and it’s a disaster.

I cannot get my iMessage to work at all.

I have followed all instructions given but keep getting same error.

I have same Apple ID and have tried everything I could on apple website problem solving part with regards iMessage problems.

I have also just emailed VODAFONE to ask

"If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier (https://support.apple.com/kb/HT204039)to make sure that you can send and receive SMS messages"

Any suggestions what else to try?

thanks

To activate iMessage and FaceTime using your Phone number

First, check to know whether you have an SMS plan enabled at least for One SMS with your carrier. Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider) the agency that issued the SIM to you

If your iPhone is used with a carrier not found in the wireless carrier articles, make sure you can send and receive international SMS. (One SMS Only)

If you can't turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple ...

You may not have an SMS plan enabled by your carrier for the SIM that you use on your device. Apple Inc does not provide SMS services.
