Extension internal error
After updating to Ventura, I cannot delete any file. I get the following error message, Extension internal error. Is this due to a setting in preferences or an Ventura OS error?
Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Same problem here! 13.0.1 does not fixed it for me. What I learned so far:
It happens mostly when files are in my Downloads folder. If I move them to my Desktop I can delete them. Also via terminal it is fine. And via Option + Command + Delete combo. Also using App Forklift it is fine.
So I assume it is something with the Finder.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
I had the same issue after installing Ventura 13.0. I went to > Force Quit and hit "Relaunch" on the Finder app. It solved the problem for me. Will keep monitoring to see if the fix lasts.
It is not only the Download folder but most of the time. I tried already reparing the permissions/doing first aid in Recovery Mode. That does help but only for an hour or so. Restarting Finder is the only solution for me at the moment.
I deactivated all startup apps but the problem still exists.
Have you tried reinstalling the system from the Recovery volume? It won't affect the user data but, like in any major instal or update, it's wise to have a full and current backup of your boot drive.
Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac? If so uninstall them according to the developer's instructions.
The next step might be the reinstalling the system from the Recovery volume? It won't affect the user data but, like in any major instal or update, it's wise to have a full and current backup of your boot drive.
I am only using Viscosity as an OpenVPN Client. But I used that one before without problems. Also disabling all auto start apps doesn't solved the issue.
I did a re install this morning of Ventura, unfortunately without any change. I guess I have to hope that 13.1 will bring some fixes. I found some more sites, talking about the problem so hopefully it get's on Apples radar (even if I do not believe in it). If 13.1 does not help, I will do a complete clean install. -.-
What are the permissions for the Downloads folder? I have Read an Write permissions for mine?
If it's not Read & Write for you set it to that and see if the problem goes away.
I have the exact same issue after updating to Ventura. I've noticed that after a reboot, it allows me to delete files for about 2-3 minutes but after that I get the exact same error.
Quick update. It looks like this is only impacting files that are on the local drive of my Mac. Files that are on iCloud storage (i.e. Desktop, Docs, etc.) are able to be deleted without an issue.
I tried rebooting and it only worked half the time.
Same issue here, rebooting has not helped.
.
This is an interesting fix. Thank you 👍🏼
This worked! Thank you.
