Date and time text replacement in Reminders

Hello everyone

I'd like to know if this is kind of a limitation related to the Italian language I'm using on my iPhone. Basically when entering a new reminder in the Reminders app I'm using a lot the "smart date parsing" (not sure how I should call it), the feature when you type in a date / time within the new reminder's box, it automatically converts it to the related alarm. This is actually working fine, but the actual date/time text doesn't get removed from the reminder description while I saw somewhere else it should get removed instead. Is it by design, or is there a setting that should be changed in order for this to work as expected ?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

Hi carva84,

Since this seems to be happening when using the text replacement with Italian, and not English, we'd advise to contact Apple Support.

Let them know exactly what you are using for the text replacement function and about the language differences, so they can take a further look into this.

Hi there carva84,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Are you using Reminders with another Apple device? If so, are your Reminders synced to iCloud? Are the Reminders performing as expected on the other device? You can get some info on syncing Reminders here:

Hi,

I’m not actually facing any sync issue. I’m just having that “weird” behavior when entering the date/time text within the reminder description. For example, I’m now using Fantasticalendar and I do not have the same issue. If I type a date/time within the reminder description, it automatically converts it to the alarm date and time and related text gets removed.

carva84,

Thanks for the clarification. When adding a date to a reminder test the step below found in the article here: Use Reminders on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Set a due date

Tap the Date and Time button  to set a due date for the reminder. Choose from Today, Tomorrow, This Weekend, or tap Date & Time to set your own day and time.

If you set a due date for a reminder but don't assign a time, the notification appears by default at 9:00 AM. To change when all-day reminder notifications appear, open the Settings app, then tap Reminders. Tap the time below All-Day Reminders, then choose a different time."

If your referring to using the Smart List feature, the section "Create a custom Smart List" from the article here might also help: Organize reminders on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers.

Hi

thanks all for the replies. I guess I'm not so good at explaining what I'm talking about, I'm not a native English speaker, so it might be I don't use the right words :-)

However, I recorded a video on my iPhone to let you see what I'm trying to refer to. If you watch the attached gif, right at the moment I type "Oggi alle 2" (which means today at 2), the keyboard automatically proposes me "today at 2", as soon as I tap on the suggestion, the reminders gets an alarm set at today at 2, without the need of me tapping on the date/time button and choose the date/time manually. I really love this feature, but I can't get the related text away from the reminders description automatically, which doesn't seem to be the case if the whole device was set to use the English language.
