ipad air screen glitchy after ipad os16.1 update

I have the most recent ipad air wifi cellular model. I updated to ipad os 16.1 and now when I touch the screen to do stuff it is glitchy and not responding smoothly like it did prior to me updating to ipad os 16.1 When I go to type something on the keyboard I might have to hit the letters two or three times before it registers. Also when I flick up or down in menus sometimes it does not respond and I have to flick up or down a few times before it responds. I am thinking this is a bug in the ipad os 16.1 because I never had this problem prior to updating. Is anyone else having the same problems. Could this be a problem with the ipad itself or is it the new os. If anyone else is having this problem please let me know and is apple aware of this and working on a fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset/forced restart of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset/forced restart procedure for the new 2018-2022 iPad Pros, 2020/21 iPad Air 4 and 5 and 2021 iPad Mini 6 models.

1. Press and release the volume button closest to the top Power button

2. Then immediately press and release the volume button farthest from the top Power button.

3. Then, press and hold the top single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018-2022 iPad will boot up completely to the iPad’s Lock screen.

For info, regardless of iPad model, iPadOS16.1 doesn’t appear to scroll as smoothly as user’s are previously accustomed with iPadOS15. As such, the described behaviour may be characteristic of this first production release of iPadOS16.

While return and exchange of a newly purchased iPad is certainly an option, you may see no immediate benefit.

You might be initially best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test of your iPad. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Search online to locate and call contact your nearest, “local” Apple Store location to try/attempt to make an appointment to get your Apple iPad diagnosed and options presented to you.

OR, alternatively, use the “Get Support” link, at the upper right hand corner of every Apple Support Community Webpage to attempt to schedule an appointment with your nearest Apple Store location.

Apple Store employees will be glad to help/assist you.

Best of Luck to You!
