Sync External Drive to icloud

How can I sync external drive to icloud?

When I google, steps are only to back up, but I like to sync.

Can I back up external drive to icloud with TimeMachine?

Please help.

You cannot sync an external drive to iCloud or backup an external drive to iCloud.
