usually to reset the login password, you'd start up in recovery Mode by restarting your 2011 MacBook Pro and holding down Apple+R Keys until you see a language selection screen, then from there after you've picked one and continued, move your cursor (the arrow) to the top center of your screen and click, you should see "Mac OS X Tools" from there, go to Terminal, get that going, you'll see black letters on a white screen, which is normal for Terminal

type in

resetpassword

(all one word)

and press enter/return on your keyboard, that should get you into the main password reset app........

sorry I couldn't help you too much... usually if I have a password that's important (as this one is)....I either write it down, or take a screenshot of it, even if you use Notes or TextEdit, then email myself a copy of it, the screenshot, that is, or otherwise record it for posterity
