My iphone 4 won't charge on wall charger only on USB

I got my new Iphone 4G last Monday 10th August 2010, well on Friday, the wall charger stopped working. I plug it on the wall and nothing happens, the batery just goes down slowly...
however, if I plug the USB to my computer turned on, the batery starts charging without problems.

What can I do? because I cannot bring my computer everywhere to charge my iphone!

I am having the same issues. I have had my phone for a month. USB doesn't work either. This is the ONLY phone I have (meaning, no landline). I believe it is a software issue. It has been doing this off and on for the entire time I have had it, but just last night decided it wasn't going to charge at all. It doesn't recognize that I have connected the charger at all.

Try a different cable and a different charger. If neither of them fix the problem the connector on the bottom of the phone is probably damaged. As it's only a month old it is under Warranty; Apple will replace it if you take it to an Apple store.

Thank you. 😉 My son's iPod Touch cable wouldn't work either. Will the Apple store be able to retrieve everything from my phone?

They will try, but probably won't be able to. If you connect it to your computer does it show up in iTunes? If it does you can back up the content by right clicking on the iPhone in the left pane and choosing Backup. If this doesn't work you will lose the content. Apps can be re-downloaded; music cannot except under extraordinary circumstances - you need to throw yourself on the mercy of iTunes store support (they are not unreasonable, and have been known to bend the rules).

I have the same issue with iphone 3gs which I have had from new. It worked fine on wall charger or USB then suddenly, I think after last OS update, only charges from a computer! There is so much misinformation on this topic about doing hard or soft resets, buying new chargers cos they're faulty etc. BUT, as my wife has an iphone 4 and hers still works off both the same wall charger and computer, but mine donesn't it is clearly nothing to do with the charger! It must be a phone software problem.

I also have an iphone speaker dock that it used to happily charge off, and it won't do so rom that now either.

There is a fault/glitch that hasn't been actioned by Apple yet that must be causing this. It does make me aanxious to see no solutions, just massives of people reporting similar issues if you google the problem, and not a single person coming up with a solution that is working.

I would be very reluctant to upgrade my phone when it is due, with issues like this going unresolved! Come on Apple, don't let your customers down.

My husband and I just received two new iPhone 4S's and both can charge if the USB cable is connected to our computer but not to the wall charger. We took the wall charger to the Apple store and they switched it out with one that works. It does seem like Apple had gotten a batch of defective wall chargers.

FYI, if you ordered it through AT&T, don't listen to their customer service rep who told me to bring the defective piece to an AT&T store. They will just tell you to take it to Apple to get it replaced.

My Phone will not charge with the IPod charger in the wall charger but when plug the same cord to PC or car charger it work.. I purchase the Iphone4S and the IPod in November 2011 and it was working good until the upgrade of this month 3-4-2012 it started to not charge. I found the original charger that came with phone and its charging now. I install the Battery Doctor on phone to clarify it was charging cause it can have the charging icon yet it don't be charging.

This happened to me too, could it be a bad update? My wall charger works on all my other phones and the same lead I use in the wall charger works on my computer.

My phone is out of warranty so no option for any replacement.
