I got my new Iphone 4G last Monday 10th August 2010, well on Friday, the wall charger stopped working. I plug it on the wall and nothing happens, the batery just goes down slowly...
however, if I plug the USB to my computer turned on, the batery starts charging without problems.

What can I do? because I cannot bring my computer everywhere to charge my iphone!

    Make sure you're using the new cable and wall adapter that came with the iPhone 4. I too had the same problem trying to use the old wall adapter with the new cable it wouldn't charge. But the old cable works on the computers usb, it's weird. I had to use the new cable and new wall adapter to get it to charge.

    My iPhone 3G still charges with any combination of cable and wall adapter.

    I'm using the cable and the wall adapter of the iphone 4, the one that came in tha package (I don't have the iphone 3G...) so I don't know why this is happening, I've seen in other posts a lot of people have the same problem... I will phone my operator company tomorrow and ask them for a new wall charger....

    Thanks a lot for your answers anyway... If any of you have the same problem and found a solution please tell me!

    Chances are it has nothing to do with the wall adapter or cord, try doing a hard reset on the phone by holding down the power and home buttons until it turns off, it may turn back on immediately after, if not wait 15 seconds and power it back up. See if that helps.

    A hard reset does not damage anything on your phone. It's just a way to make the phone shut down abruptly and then do a system check when rebooting.

    I've just done what you said, the phone went off and on immediately after, I plugged again the carger on the iphone and then on the wall, and nothing happened, it just doenst charge... then I plugged the usb cable to my laptop again and it's charging normally....

    Your charger is broken. You will have to get a new one. The are covered by the warranty, so it should not cost you anything.

    Well simple Amanda. Take it back from where you go it from. If you bought it on line, call apple and they will over night you one. It is under warranty.

    Ya it might be broken, it's just weird because it worked ok for 3 days and then.... it stopped working but nothing happened to it...

    I got it from Orange, the mobile phone company I've got, so I'll phone them tomorrow and I hope they dont give me problems to get a new charger or just the wall plug.

    i got mine last week, and today i m experiencing same issue ! i hope u ve changed your wall charger...i ll try it tomorrow ar vodafone store.

    Hi Amanda, I have been having the exact same problem. I think the wall jack is bad. Sounds like apple put out a host of bad wall chargers. I need to now figure out how to get a new one.

    Yes I am having the same problem the wall charger worked for about 2 weeks and now I can only charge my phone via the USB lead nothing happens when I plug it into the wall socket.

    It looks like it was only the charger that was faulty it will be replaced with a new one.

    How long is it under warranty?? And what # do I call to actually talk to a PERSON, so I can have them send me a new one?? I tried to call whatever # is listed on their site here and I just got the automated run-around and then it said I needed to purchase a $60 support something or other.

    Just ran into the same dilemma. What makes this more helpful is the fact that I have 2 iPhones. There is nothing wrong with the wall charger. It works fine in one phone, but not the other. Like previous posts, I plug it into the USB and it works fine. Upon speaking with a technician today, he was even flustered. What it turns out is the one iPhone I have is not recognizing the wall charger. They are sending a new phone overnight free of charge, since the phones were purchased in February this year. They are covered by a one year warranty. So it seems it's a phone issue (in my case) that they havent encountered since these are the newest ones available. Hope this helps...
