How do I control the sort being performed on "My Guides" in the Apple Maps app(s)?

I am heading on a trip and am trying to organize hotels, sites we want to see etc, in the maps app. At the same time I found there was a bunch of cruft that needed to be cleaned out/organized as well.

So I created what Apple calls "Guides" to hold what these places I want to pre-load on my devices.

I know I can alter the search order of a specific guide to be sort by either name or by date entered.

What is missing is a way to control the order of the guides I create. The order seems to be strictly dependent on what was most recently modified but that means I could end up having to find a specific guide out of a list of 20 guides that are in a a random"ish" order.

Has anyone else figured out how to do this?

Seems like a simple thing for Apple to have done since the Guides themselves can be sorted. But they also decided to use the name "Guide" and I found that it is not the best name when you need to search for how to do something with these guides. Try it. Kind of like searching for Shortcuts help.

While I have been doing my preparation work on my Mac, the same problem exists on iOS. Bummer too.

I don't think there is a way to do it. We can sort only by name, distance, and date. Of course it would be nice if we could simply order the list by dragging the items within it.

I agree that ought to be a feature Apple could easily implement. Make your wishes known, here: Feedback - Maps for OS X - Apple.

As far as Maps is concerned, it could use a ton of improvements. Apple Maps was initially a great start, but whatever progress has been made over the years is extremely well hidden.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate the reference, I did eventually find it when searching for info on how to use the guides. The fact that the guides re-order themselves just because I added something to another guide is painful when working on a small screen like an iPhone. As is trying to avoid the ads Apple calls "Food & Travel Guides". They seem to always be in the way. Of course no way to turn them off.

I have submitted this to the feedback site though because nothing ever comes back to those of us submitting feedback, the Feedback site is really just a black hole.

I will submit it through the Developers feedback portal this weekend. Might get some more attention.
