What is OSMessageTracer used for?

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and recently upgraded to MacOS 13 Ventura. I was reviewing the system settings under General -> Login Items -> Allow in the Background section. I noticed an entry that is displaying:

OSMessageTracer

Item from unidentified developer.

Does anyone know what this is and whether it is authorized by Apple?

Thanks for the responses

That file has been there for several years. I often (always?) see it in EtreCheck reports. The executable that it references doesn't exist. That's why it is identified as "unidentified developer".

But of course, Apple doesn't care about such things. Maybe people asking questions about that new Login Items display will be the impetus for them to finally fix this problem.
