Hi Meekatharra,

Ensure you stay connected to Wi-Fi while the restore is completing, as the restore may be interrupted if you leave the Wi-Fi network. Check out that information here: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

"Stay connected to Wi-Fi and wait for a progress bar to appear and complete. Depending on the size of the backup and the network speed, the progress bar might need a few minutes to an hour to complete. If you disconnect from Wi-Fi too soon, the progress will pause until you reconnect."

Allow the process to complete. If you receive an error message after completion, then it may help to use a different network while restoring to help isolate the behavior or to select a different backup. Check out those suggestion here: If restore from iCloud backup failed - Apple Support

"If you receive an error while restoring from an iCloud Backup

  1. Try to restore your backup on another network.
  2. If you have another backup available, try to restore using that backup. Learn how to locate backups
  3. If you still need help, archive important data then contact Apple Support."

Let us know if the issue persists.

Kind regards.

Hi Chris,

Just a follow up to let you know how I overcame the issue. While in the Apple store having purchased the new phone I was on the shops WIFI and once leaving that shop and arriving home to finish my phone restore through iCloud using my own WIFI is what the problem was. I found that by switching the phone off and then back on the final setup for my phone was achieved once it recognized my WIFI address.

Regards,

Meekatharra
