pairing new Apple Watch ultra

I unpaired my old Apple Watch but new watch won't pair. says new ultra watch needs update

how do I update it. when watch app is opened it takes me to pairing

What model iPhone are you trying to pair with and what is the current iOS version on your iPhone? An

Ultra Watch will ONLY pair with an iPhone 8 or newer, running iOS 16 or higher (current iOS version is 16.1).
