Problem with fn (function/globe key) and the function keys (F1-F12)

Hello.

Both my fn (function/globe key) work, and the function keys (F1-F12) work. The first one works by creating a shortcut for emojis, while the latter works by adjusting volume, brightness, etc.

However, when wanting to access to F1, F2, etc, by holding the fn-key, while also pressing one of the function keys (F1-F12), this all of a sudden doesn't work.

It has always worked before. I have for instance used this for header-shortcuts in Pages. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work, and an "error sound" appears instead.

What could be the reason, and how can this be fixed?

Then have a few suggestions ;

1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.

Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue

I am aware of the setting so that you don’t have to press and hold Fn. That is not what I am looking for (It also didn't solve the problem).

Like the article you referred to says: "To use the function keys for keyboard shortcuts, you must also press and hold the Fn key or the Globe key". I have always done this, and it always worked. All of a sudden I am not able to use the function keys.

Actually, it is macOS Monterey, but I am downloading macOS Ventura (13.0) as we speak
