Battery is draining when the lid is off. (sleep mode)

Hello Dear,

I am using mac book air early 2015 macos monterey 12.6.1. My battery is draining when i close the lid. When the lid is closed, the area around right top (under power button) is hot until the battery is fully finished. If i shut down the mac, no problem exist. I updated mac os, then reinstalled macos, reset smc, reset nvram, fully scan with cleanmymac, even changed the battery but problem still exist.

Greetings altan291,

To help isolate the behavior and see if power is being drawn unexpectedly, test if the issue occurs when all peripherals are disconnected from your Mac. Additionally, test if the issue occurs when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned off prior to sleep.

You can see how to turn off Bluetooth here: Turn Bluetooth on or off on Mac - Apple Support

"1. On your Mac, click the Bluetooth status icon in the Control Center or menu bar. If you don’t see the Bluetooth status icon in the menu bar, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Bluetooth , then select “Show Bluetooth in menu bar.” Bluetooth is always available in Control Center.

2. Click the switch to turn Bluetooth on or off."

You can turn off Wi-Fi from the menu bar: Use the Wi-Fi status menu on Mac - Apple Support

"Turn Wi-Fi on or off

  1. On your Mac, click the Wi-Fi status menu in the menu bar.
  2. Click the switch at the top of the Wi-Fi menu to turn Wi-Fi on or off."

If the issue persists, reach out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. You can use the following link to reach out: Contact - Official Apple Support
