iPhone app won’t open

My iPhone has started to go back to Home Screen when I tap an app. Was working fine earlier and when went to go back to app it just goes straight back to Home Screen. Help please if anyone can.

Try a forced restart.

• Press and quickly release the volume up button

• Press and quickly release the volume down button

• Press and hold the side button.

• When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
