Is the iPhone 13 the worst camera ever? Any work arounds?

The iPhone 13 pro. When I took this shot it was in focus, and this was the result:

(this is 100% scale, not zoomed or cropped-in)

My 1.3mp camera in 2001 took better photos than this.

Hi chadofutah,

Are you noticing the same quality with multiple photos or only when you took this specific photo? Knowing if this is happening with multiple photos or one can help determine possible troubleshooting steps.

Also, you'll want to make sure your iPhone is fully updated, as updates can sometimes help resolve issues:

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Those steps are from this article: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If there is an available update, you'll want to make sure that you back up your iPhone first before completing the update. This article shows multiple options on how to backup your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Take care!

Hi chadofutah,

Thanks for letting us know. You can contact Apple Support for further help if you're following the tips in the following article on how to take great photos, but still have an issue with the quality of photos taken with the Camera app: Take great photos and videos - Apple Support

If the photos being taken are in another app, you'll want to ensure that app is fully up-to-date:

"How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

Those steps, and more, can be found here: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support Keeping installed apps up-to-date can ensure the most compatible version is running on a device and may also help resolve issues.

If you continue to encounter this issue, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Best wishes.
