My right EarPod is too hot to wear I. The ear. The left is normal. Any ideas as to why and how to fix it so I can wear both pods?

Hi paulieballs

Thanks for following up with us. Have you tried resetting your AirPods yet? That's a good general step that could help if one isn't working as expected: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

"You might need to reset your AirPods if they won't charge, or to fix a different issue.

  1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case.
  4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
  5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
  6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*
  7. AirPods charging cases
  8. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen."

Let us know if this makes a difference with your right AirPod. If not, let us know exactly what happens with it. For example, does it not charge, is it not connecting, or does it connect but you have no audio?

Best wishes.

Hello paulieballs,

This page here can help provide some info on the AirPods getting warm: Keeping AirPods within acceptable operating temperatures

Your device might get warm
When you use the device or charge the battery, the device might get warm. This warmer temperature is normal. Your device will return to a regular temperature when you finish the activity.
These are some of the higher ambient-temperature conditions and activities that might cause the device to change performance and behavior:
•Leaving the device in a car on a hot day
•Leaving the device in direct sunlight for an extended period of time

Store your AirPods where the temperature is between -10º and 45º C (14º to 113º F). Don’t leave your AirPods in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Does it seem that it happens after they've been charging or any particular actions?

Cheers.

Thanks for getting back to me. I do not keep them in the car I charge them through the day so that I can use them overnight and when I take the right one out to put in my year I notice it is really hot for some reason the left one is fine and works. Tried it again yesterday and the right one now no longer works. Wonder what’s caused it to crap itself.
