"Missing Plugin" in Final Cut Pro X and Compressor
Anyone having this issue of FCPX suddenly "Missing Plugins" in the Browser and timeline? AND when you output a project to Compressor it comes out with the same message?

What type of media is this? Do you have the most recent Pro Video Formats installed?
So rebooting the system might be enough without relinking.
You can use any setting, preset or any custom setting you create in Compressor, inside FCP.
Can you give details of the drive, what is it, how is it connected, how is it formatted?
All stored on external media, on a dedicated hd. I have NO IDEA why I have to relink one at a time. Batch relink does not work either. As I mentioned above, I only know the relink works once I've rebooted and the thumbnails reappear.
Yes, settings are available in FCPX, but somewhat limited, especially audio. Also, the export from FCPX is not as thorough as it is in Compressor. I have to use a workaround for compressor: Output from FCP in ProRes and then compress in Compressor. Big pain.
Sorry, I guess I'm not being clear. The thumbnails and clips DO NOT appear until I relink AND restart either the program or the computer. Otherwise, there is NO visual change when I relink. So no, it is NOT enough to reboot without relinking first.
I know I can add Compressor settings to FCPX. That's great but it's the least of my worries.
The drive is a 6TB LaCie (773GB free), though it is several years old now (2016). It is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Use feedback to report the problem. Did you see it before 10.6.5?
I have the latest pro formats. The media is all over the map; older, newer, H264, MP4, Pro Res, HEVC. What's weird is it shows up as "Missing Plug" in in the Browser, and I mean every single project and event. To get a picture I have to relink them one-by-one. But then I have to restart FCPX for the thumbnails to reappear. It will then work fine while I edit, but when I output to Compressor, the exported file has no sound and the video is all one "Missing Plugin" warning again. Only if I output directly from FCPX can I avoid that. ???????
Where exactly is the media and library stored? Managed or external media?
Why do you have to relink one at a time? Doesn't selecting a group of clips and batch relinking work?
So relinking doesn't bring back the thumbnails. Then how do you know relink worked? Would rebooting be enough to bring them back?
You can also use Compressor settings in FCP.
And I'm using Monterey 12.6, FCPX 10.6.5 and Compressor 4.6.3. Used to only happen on my Mac Pro but is also happening on my 2018 MacBook Pro.
I did, yes, but first it was only happening on the Mac Pro. Now it also on the MacBook Pro. But the laptop didn’t start doing it until after the 10.6 update.
You mean after the 10.6.5 update? So not in 10.6.4?
