In notes on iPad os 16.1 the pencil tool seems to be missing. There is a pen and what looks like a mechanical pen, but no pencil/crayonish tool at all. I can no longer shade a drawing by tilting the Apple Pencil.
I’m using a 2018 11” iPad Pro and a 2nd gen Apple Pencil.

It was there all along. I just never needed to scroll the tolls to see it before:)

Indeed, the enhanced drawing toolbar of iPadOS16.x now has too many drawing tools to be accommodated within the toolbar; the toolbar tools can now be scrolled with a finger-swipe.
