No Desktop when Stage manager active on multiple Screen system

I have a MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip and i use the MacBook in "Clamshell" mode with 2 displays.

If i select Stage Manager to be active, i lose the standard "desktop" with all my folders and shortcuts, so i cannot quickly select desktop shortcuts or folders/files that i commonly use.

If i use the Macbook pro on its own with no other screens Stage manager can be selected without any other issues that i have encountered to date.

Seems like a simple issue should have been seen in Beta Testing??

Thanks for your response.

Stage Manager activated but does not appear in Control Center —

Stage Manager never appears in Control Centre

Make sure that the System Settings / Desktop & Dock the 'Displays have separate Spaces' option is turned ON. After logging out then back in the Stage Manager menu toggle showed the Stage Manager option, and the Desktop & Dock Stage Manger on/off Customize

Ref the above all seems fine (Now) see note below.

Control-click on on a running app in your dock and make sure it's not assigned to "all desktops."
If so, it won't appear in Stage Manager's "recent apps" side bar.

All Desktops were not selected.

I did some further investigation on this and interestingly I had the MacBook Pro separate from the other displays and docks and hubs etc and Stage Manager was selected, then I noted that the normal Desktop was being displayed on that inbuilt display as normal, but if i clicked anywhere inside the empty "space" the desktop would NOT be displayed, one more click and back it came, i then reconnect the MacBook back into the Desktop environment and sure enough the same thing happened... is this normal operation for Stage Manager and i wonder why they have gone to the trouble to do this? i did not see any reference to this method of operation.

Thanks for your other links to other refs

But still slightly puzzled by the operation of the desktop with Stage Manager selected.

Thanks
