save variants of a document in Pages

How do I save two versions of a document in Pages? (Pages 12.2 on MacBook Pro 16" 2019)

I have a doc named and saved, make a couple of changes and change title by adding V2 (version 2) but this just overwrites the original and only the revised version remains?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.6

After you first save a Pages document, autosave (and versioning) is enabled. Then you have a couple of choices:

  1. Use the same document name, knowing that the File menu > Revert To > Browse all versions will give you access to past versions of the same document. See Restore an earlier document version in Pages on Mac - Apple Support
  2. Use Phil0124's suggestion to Save As… and add your own revision numbers to the document name. Of course, this creates more clutter to manage and best organized in a specific folder.
