Replaced screen on MacBook Air

replaced my MacBook Air screen and followed instructions to a T and I am getting a black screen. No sounds no lights and I have left it plugged in for 3 hours. I have taken it completely apart again and looked at thing and nothing changed. I don’t know what to do next. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.5

@John Galt makes a great point.

Also, it is possible you accidentally damaged something during the repair since the cables & connectors are extremely delicate and easily damaged. Did you disconnect the battery before working on the laptop? If not, then you may have damaged the screen and/or Logic Board when connecting/disconnecting the display cable.

If the original part also had a black screen, then it likely indicates the screen is not the problem.

If you have a USB-C laptop, then there is a possibility another screen won't work without having the parts properly paired (I don't recall if this is the case for a MBAir 2018+ model....not an issue for the 2017 and earlier models).

Try disconnecting the battery from the Logic Board and using just the charger to power on the laptop. Sometimes a battery issue can prevent an Apple laptop from powering on.

Plus it really helps to know the exact model of the Mac when asking for assistance since each model can be very different. You can get the exact model by entering the system serial number here:
