FB messenger only a white screen with spinning circle after IOS 16 update

Hi everyone! My question is, how do i fix my Face book messenger. Right after upgrading to IOS 16 on my fairly new IPad, when i open messenger, it goes to a totally white screen with a spinning circle in the center.

ive let it sit to see if it fixes itself and it doesnt. I tried closing it out and deleting the FB messenger app, and restarting the ipad, then redownloading it and installing it and it did the same thing. I saw online that this happends with android, but not IOS 16.
