my iphone shows NO 'notes' icon. how do I make 'notes' apparent and usable?

Use App Library to search Notes app, see -> Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone

If you have find Notes app, tap & hold on the app, then drag to the Home screen & drop it.

Thanks

The 'Notes' app is in the App Library as you inferred, so I can use it there. Guess it need not be on home screen.
